Individual Counselling
Counseling is a warm, empathetic, non judgmental and active listening provided by a trained person(counsellor) with an aim to enable the other person(counselee) to address his/her concerns and difficulties. The counselor helps the counselee to introspect and understand self, his/her needs, interests, aptitude, aspirations and goals on one hand; his/her situation and role in the family, community and society on the other hand; and then arrive at an appropriate decision, choice and action. Thus counseling helps in making best choices, decisions and plans.
The relationship between the counselor and the counselee is based on a good rapport and trust. A good rapport and trust is important because it helps to attain the end goal i.e., helps the counselee to find solutions to his/her concerns. A safe and conducive environment will be provided where counselee is able to share his/her feelings and concerns without any inhibitions. The concerns faced by the counselee may be related to education, personal, social and vocational. The counselor, from their professional knowledge, experience and training offer techniques and tools. Which will help the client cope better and work towards goal. It also enables the clients to learn new ways of thinking and behaving.
